Fourth meeting: Journal entries

1. Looking back at the list of your positive characteristics and qualities, what do you feel and realize about it?
-I realize that I still need to improve myself and change my bad attitudes especially when I am quarreling with my brothers.

2. The Golden Rule says, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."
a. Given the following situations, how would you like to be treated by your teachers and schoolmates:
- when you have given wrong answers to the questions during recitation;--- I don't want to be embarrased and I want to be corrected in a nice way.
- when you are expressing your opinion during class or group discussion;--- for the sake of everybody I want all of us to be given a chance to express ourselves freely.
-when you are giving suggestions during group work or presentation;--- I think we should have equal rights and time to speak for ourselves.
- when you commit mistake;--- I wish my sorry to be accepted.
- when you don't like doing what they ask you to do;--- I wish they can understand my valid reason if I really can't do it.
- when they want to give you comments or suggestions?--- It should be done in a nice way and not like they want to show that I get the wrong information and they are the one who is correct.
b. Considering the given ideas on how to treat others with respect what can you commit to yourself in terms of dealing with the MCL commmunity: teachers, students, employees, security, maintenance/janitors and canteen personnel?
- I will treat them well and respect them too. And if someone orders us to don't do something we might have just do it. Example of this is the order of the guard to don't enter the room without our professor.

Third meeting answers

Write a reflection about one of your significant classroom experiences during the past few days at MCL. This could be something positive or negative. Use the outline below:
- the date/time of experience--- July 12, 2007 7:45am at the third floor
- details of the story/experience (people, location, event/situation, reactions of the people around)--- I am with my friend Flor, and a day before we are expecting that our first class the next day would be around 8:30 in the morning. But when we reach the third floor we were surprised to see our classmates inside the room. And the worsse part is that they are attending our NSTP class. We are not aware of that so we just decided to stay out of the classroom. And after their class we talk to our teacher and say sorry because we didn't know that we have our class that day.
- your feelings and reactions during this experience--- We felt really embarassed especially when we enter the room for our second subject.
- your learning/realization from the experience--- Be updated all the time.

Values Educaton Answers

Second Meeting Questions

1. How was your first week of stay at MCL? How do you feel about your teachers and schoolmates? How do you find your courses? What sort of adjustment you still have to meet in terms of your academics, emotions and social involvement?

-My first week in MCL makes me nervous and also fun. Nervous because I am going to meet new people whom I am going to be with for a semester. At the same time I had fun because I was wrong about what I thought my classmates would be. They are really approachable and nice, it is the opposite of what I expect to be so boastful people. As for my teachers, I do try to show them my respect and cooperation because I found them so professional. About my classmates I never had a problem because they are friendly. For my course, It is fine. But I think I still need to get used to it. That's why I still need to adjust my alloted time to my studies. There is also a time for socializing to my classmates to avoid any misunderstandings and social gap.

2. How would you like your first year in college be? What specifically you have to do to achieve these desires?

-I like my it to be slightly challenging so that it would serves as a stepping stone to a more difficult phase on our second year. I think also that in order to achieve my goal, I have to experience college
life without any exemptions or special treatment.
